What Are We Feeding Our Children

According to George Barna, the average American child ages 9-13 ingests nearly 48 hours of mass media each week. That's 2 full days! Every week! Their favorite entree? The Internet. Not to mention hours of violence in movies, video games, and TV. Moreover, a child's spiritual foundation is almost entirely set for life by the age of 13. With that kind of media diet, who is guarding the gates of our children's minds and hearts? It's no wonder that school violence continues to shock us. Is anyone paying attention? Certainly not the mass media companies themselves. Even shows like Everybody Loves Raymond and movies like Shrek are filled with vulgar material. How did we get to this point? Is all speech really protected? Can the tide be turned?
