A middle school teacher in Maryland lambasted a middle school girl for refusing to stand up during the pledge of the allegiance. Eventually the school security was involved and the girl hasn't been back to school for 3 weeks because she is so embarrassed. Now you have the school and teacher apologizing. All this brings up a great discussion on freedom of speech in the schools and what is and is not within the teacher's authority.
