The Catholic Church Scandal Continues
Thursday, March 25, 2010
Most of you know that I converted from being a Methodist to a Catholic sometime back. Overwhelmingly the biggest question I get is, "what about all the molestation that went in the church?" So let's have an open, honest conversation about the molestation that went on and how the Catholic church is handling it.

Very nice to be here on this discussion. I just returned from a second pilgrimage to Rome Italy and am on fire again for our church. Well, first of all, I went through an intensive background investigation to work with the vulnerable a couple years ago. The Archdiocese of Atlanta is very careful about who they allow to be in contact with children, elderly, etc, etc. We also "police" ourselves. And by ourselves, I mean the people involved in the various ministries. We are in contact with each other continously through the year, and support ourselves spiritually as well. In my parish, I would just find it difficult to believe the old crimes could occur anymore, and I'm a former police officer and maximum security correctional officer. We are just always on the watch for suspicious type behaviour. This is not to say that we are like Gestapo types, it's just in the back of our minds always. It's like the army training I had as a young man. It becomes instinctive without really thinking about it. - Nice to be here and I'd like to thank the rest of you for your interest also.
