Homocure?

CNN is coming under some serious flack for just asking the question is homosexuality something you can be cured by? Think what you will about homosexuality, but can't we at least have a discussion on what makes someone gay? What's the big deal in believing that some homosexuals aren't born that way, they may not want to be that way, and therefore it might help to "cure" them of their predicament?
