Jumping the Gate Paradox

If I told you a story of man who risked everything to jump the border between East and West Germany in order to provide for his family, you'd probably identify with that guy and be very proud and supportive of his actions. But if I told the exact same story only this time the border that was crossed was the US and Mexico border, your take would probably be a bit different. Why? The Sanchez family is another example of why we need to open our borders.
