Christine O'Donnell and The First Amendment
Tuesday, October 19, 2010
I am hardly a Christine O'Donnell fan, but she is getting beat up in the media for her questioning of Coons about the first amendment / separation of church and state comments in the debate the other night. But here's the kicker, she's actually right. Most of the critique of her is saying that she doesn't know the constitution, but if you actually pay attention to what she is saying, she actually knows the constitution better than Coons.

What the issue in the debate was is teaching of creationism (under the trade name "intelligent design") in public schools. Coons rightly pointed out that constitution prohibits teaching of religion as science in public schools.
Coons' view of the First Amendment has been upheld by numerous court cases such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitzmiller_v._Dover_Area_School_District">Kitzmiller v. Dover. O'Donnell's view is being defended by theocrats like David Barton.
So, yet again, you are wrong Allen.
And methinks though doth protest too much about not being a fan of Christine "in way over her head" O'Donnell. In any case, you are defending her all the damn time.
