SuperBowl 2011 Debacle

Monday, February 7, 2011

What a mess this year's SuperBowl was. First you had Christina Aguilera mess up the National Anthem - which I sort of defend her on because honestly, can you recite the national anthem? Then you had all the critique of the Black Eyed Peas - which I too defend them and say they were way better than the Blacked Eyed Peas. And then you had the advertising debacle where Fox thinks a John 3:16 advertisement is too controversial, but dude's sucking on other dude's fingers and over sexualization of situations is not.

Gravatar.com In addition to the problems mentioned on the YouTube Video(I Havn't heard the rest of the show) there was the botched national anthem, the trouble with seating and the cold weather. Two or three days before the game several people were injured by ice falling from the stadium. At least the game was good and then there's the Aaron Rodgers story. Of course I'm biased since I live in Rodgers hometown of Chico, California. Despite that, it is an unlikely success story. As you may know Rodgers was largely overlooked coming out of high school and wound up enrolling at the nearby community college. He was then discovered by Cal's coach who showed up to scout another player! As they say, the rest is history. On top of all this Aaron is a person who's grounded by faith and family. He's stayed in touch with the community, and has even hosted golf tournaments to support local Young Life. I'll conclude by suggesting Rogers would be an interesting guest on the Allen Hunt Show.
