BP Execs Might Get Charged With Manslaughter

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

It was released today that prosecutors are considering charging BP executives with manslaughter over their lack of action to prevent the deaths on the oil rig that exploded last Summer. It's hard to say it, but people make mistakes. And while I don't have all the evidence, I think it is a real scary precedent to start charging executives for accidents they probably had little or no direct control over.

Gravatar.com Is 'righting the wrongs' through our imperfect justice system all about making the victims feel better? I don't think so. Our system of justice as flawed as it is should punish the individuals who caused the harm, through our tort or criminal courts. Yes, the persons responsible for the deaths of these eleven people should be prosecuted for negligent homicide.
