MI Child Abuse Case

A man was sent to jail for 3rd degree child abuse for dealing with a troubled son because he pushed him into a wall. This isn't a child, but a teenager. And apparently the child was acting up significantly. So should the father go to jail for pushing his son into the wall - especially if the kid has been a trouble kid?
