Gravatar.com Unfortunately too many people who otherwise are "decent" law abiding fair mineded citizens, now believe in torture. This is the banality of evil.Evertything we profess to believe in;due process, universal human rights, equality of all persons, innocent till proven guilty etc., everthing we tauted as what made us morally superior to those nationalistic countries-all went out the window 5 minutes after 9-11.The minute we really hated a group of people [anyone we detained who was Muslim] ,we want to torture. We are a nation of laws not of men except if we really hate you.Our new religion is Americanism.
