College Football Reminds Me of Slavery

Monday, June 6, 2011

Steve Spurrier spoke out this week with an idea to compensate college football players for their labors. Given that college football and basketball fund all other college sports, and even enrich a number of other people (like coaches) Spurrier is right. A worker deserves his wages. No other industry generating close to a billions dollars in revenue could opssibly get away with treating its laborers like college football and basketball do. Sweat shops? Yes. Slavery? Very close.
