A California couple took their dog hiking in Angeles National Forest. When the dog grew fatigued and had scuffed paws, they called for help. In the end, they spent the night in the forest with their dog until a rescue chopper could airlift 80 lb. Baxter, labrador, to safety. How outrageous is this? Taxpayer-funded dog rescues. Medics endangering their lives to save a dog. And the potential for that chopper to be needed on a real call to help a human. This is sad when we make a dog the equivalent of a human. Humans have a sacred worth above all other animals. Dogs are wonderful but they are not human.
