American Marine snipers are shown in a recent video urinating on dead Taliban soldiers in Afghanistan. The outrage and repudiation have been swift from all fronts, including the White House, the Pentagon, and the Taliban. Many are calling for court-martial or even imprisonment. Not so fast. These soldiers clearly made a mistake, but there is no need to overreact. They were asked to kill these guys, and they did. That is their job. After killing them, they crossed the line into poor judgment, but when a mistake like that occurs, you coach and correct not crush and convict. Young soldiers in pressurized combat situations deserve that. This is a mistake, not a scandal.

I thoroughly agree with your sentiment here. We were just discussing this subject at work and my stance was we have no clue what those soldiers have witnessed during their tour of duty. They do need to be coached as to why this was not the right thing to do, but anything more than this would be overkill.
