No Perfect Pasts

In the most surprising week of Republican primary disclosures imaginable, accounts of Karen Santorum's past proved quite titillating. As a nursing student, and for several years thereafter, she lived with an abortion doctor 41 years her senior for six years. She then corrected course, married, became a devoted mother, and emerged as a passionate defender of life. Some criticize her for hypocrisy and suggest that her past disqualifies Rick Santorum as a pro-life candidate. But to make a mistake, acknowledge, learn from it, correct course, and grow forward are virtues not faults. Growth is good. As a Christian, my goal is not a perfect past but rather a holy future.
