Joe Pa is no Victim

The final memorial service was held for Joe Paterno at Penn State this week. As speakers recalled Paterno's many great works, Phi Knight of Nike suggested that Paterno was a victim of the Penn State trustees and the media. Joe Paterno was the longest-tenured, probably the highest paid, and certainly the most powerful man at Penn State. He was a crucial part of a team that failed at least 10 kids who were molested and traumatized. He is no victim. He is both a sinner and a saint, like most of the rest of us. To whitewash his failures serves no one well.
