Stay at home moms are the unsung heroes of our day. They get little recognition while they are doing the singlemost important role there is: investing in the emotional and spiritual well-being of children. The website www.salary.com recently conducted an informal study that shows that stay-at-home moms could earn a hypothetical annual salary in excess of $131,000. That assumes an average workweek of roughly 100 hours (14 + hours a day). Moms stay at home because of a desire to be the child?s primary caregiver, to invest personally in children, and to be sure that children embrace the values of their mom and dad. There is no higher calling, and no job more worthwhile, for a woman, than that of being a loving and nurturing stay-at-home mom. Research indicates that children tend to be more grounded and confident when their moms have stayed with them. That may well be why there is a growing trend in our nation back to staying at home. I encourage all women who can to do so. Because children matter.
