The next installment of the Harry Potter series is set for release this week and Amazon is already reporting 1,400,000 advance orders for ?Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince?. The new Harry Potter book, by J.K. Rowling, will be in stores this Saturday, and my family and I look forward to reading the new book, as a family, aloud. I view the Harry Potter books as good literature with an interesting story and multiple plot twists. Many in the Christian community, however, take a much darker and sinister approach to the book. Those opposing the book take the position that the books glorify witchcraft, the occult, and Satan. Even Pope Benedict XVI, formerly Cardinal Ratzinger, stated that the Harry Potter books are ?subtle seductions? for young readers and that they ?distort Christianity in the soul?, before it can develop properly. There are plenty of things to get upset about in this world, but Harry Potter is not one of them. Folks, who read more into it, need to lighten-up.
