Earlier this week, President Bush announced his choice of federal appeals court judge John Glover Roberts to fill the Supreme Court vacancy left by the retirement of Sandra Day O?Connor. Glover has developed a very impressive resume which includes attorney, judge, associate White House counsel, and law clerk for Supreme Court Justice William H. Rehnquist. Politicians in Washington, and across the country, are lining-up to voice their opinion regarding whether Glover is competent and qualified to sit on the highest court in the land (a lifetime appointment). I am eager to learn more about the man that President Bush hopes will be the next Supreme Court justice. He and his wife are described as devout Catholics. Assuming that is correct, and assuming that Judge Glover is confirmed to the Supreme Court, I am very hopeful that his faith will play a key role in his interpretation of the Constitution.
