Faith can be defined as the secure belief in God, and a trusting acceptance of God's will. People of faith know that God is real, He is love, and He is omnipotent. While faith calls us to accept God?s will (His plan), it does not make the understanding of why things happen any easier. During the month of August, a number of terrible commercial airline crashes occurred. The air disasters include a Helios Airways crash near Athens, Greece killing all 121 aboard, a Western Caribbean Airways charter flight crash in Venezuela killing all 160 aboard, and an Air France flight that crashed in Toronto. In the Air France crash, the 309 passengers and crew all survived. Why were the passengers and crew on the Air France flight spared? My faith tells me that they survived because that was God?s will. Apart from helping me accept things that I cannot explain, my faith also tells me that when I die, there will be life after death. People who have had near death experiences can shed some light on what heaven and hell will be like.
