The Calderon's immigrated to Japan illegally many years ago. They had a child while in Japan and have since be found out by Japan immigration and is getting deported back to the Philippines. Since the child is a Japanese citizen, she is allowed to stay so the parents had quite the decision to make. Frankly, they made the wrong one: they left her in Japan.
