My Birthday, My Phone

Everyone, and I mean everyone, has been harping me to get an iPhone. Well it is my birthday and I am trying to decide if now is the time. But I just don't think I can take the plunge. I don't want to be THAT connected. Then Google had to add to the temptation by releasing their long awaited Nexus One phone. I don't know if I can take all this temptation. How about you? Do you have any horror stories of being connected 24/7.
