Recently a 23-year old man was arrested and convicted of statutory rape of his 15-year old wife after they have had an intimate relationship for the past two years. While I don't think its a preferable route, the question needs to be asked, what does the government feel it is accomplishing my prosecuting this man, which by defect creates a single mom, and a fatherless child.
